Chrissa Tsovili was born in 1977 in Athens. She graduated in painting from Thessalonikis National School of Fine Arts and continued with postgraduate studies in photography at "La Cambre", School of Fine Arts in Brussels. At the same time, she attended dance-staging seminars "Physical dance" and interactive stage design "Digital stage". Working within video-art, she has developed long-term collaborations with music composers such as Giorgos Koumentakis, Giorgos Emmanouil Lazaridis, Lorenzo Ferrero, Philippo del Corno, piano soloist Emmanuel Arciulli and the band "The Transcription Ensemble" for which she created live video-art shows for their concerts. The themes and subjects of her work are inspired by events and visual representations that merge History of Art with the socio-political course of humanity. Such concepts are seen from a perspective of cynicism and are embodied within an aesthetic of unrealistic and fairytale elements. This creates a field of apprehension as well as of contradiction that points towards a transcendental view of reality, on the one hand, while revealing a critical attitude towards the absurdity of modern historicity.
