Kostas Malamos was born in Alexandria (Egypt), Kostas Malamos studied painting at the School of Fine Arts, Athens (1932-1937) with Pavlos Mathiopoulos, Umbertos Argyros, Kostas Parthenis a.o. He had his first one-man exhibition at Ioannina (Epirus) in 1933.

Other solo and group shows followed both in Greece and abroad. He has also painted frescos in churches, public buildings a.o.

In 1972 he was awarded in Athens with the 2nd State Prize for Painting. In 1937 he opened an art preparatory school in Athens and in 1941 a school for painting at Ioannina, while in 1946 he was appointed art professor at the Athens College. From 1958 to 1963 he taught at the Vakalo School and in 1960 he founded the Neo-Hellenic Art Gallery at Ioannina. In 1994 he was awarded with Academy of Athens Award. Due to his personal style, he gives an expressionist character to his descriptive and realistic writing.
