Simon MacEwan was born in Scotland 1974, but lives and works in Australia. MacEwan’s work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at various Melbourne galleries including Anna Papas Gallery (2015, 2012, 2011); c3 contemporary art space (2010, 2009); Bus Gallery (2008) and Seventh Gallery (2005, 2004, 2003). He has also exhibited in group exhibitions at Melbourne’s Utopian Slumps, Kick Gallery (2008), NEXT WAVE Festival (2006, 2004); and Sydney’s UTS Gallery (2005). In 2013, MacEwan was a finalist for the John Fries Memorial Prize in Sydney and the Deakin Small Sculpture Prize in Melbourne. He was also a finalist for the 2011 Banyule Award for Works on Paper, Melbourne and the 2003 George Baldessin Award Exhibition, Melbourne.
MacEwan is represented in the Artbank collection, Sydney, the Banyule City Council Art Collection, Melbourne, the Ipswich Art Gallery, Brisbane, and the Monash University Museum, Melbourne alongside private collections worldwide.
